SKM Instruments:

Where Precision Meets Performance

SKM Instruments is Spectroscopic Innovation

SKM Instruments was founded in 2022 to develop a new genre of spectroscopic instruments for molecular spectroscopy that focused on high resolution and spectrometric accuracy.  Our goal is to increase the information content within a single spectrum with high spectral resolution and exact wavelength accuracy.  Our first project for wearable technology will glean as much information about the human body as possible in a miniature size.  We’re approaching this problem with new technologies developed for the automobile industry and with designs to maintain accuracies to a fraction of a wavelength. Our high-volume supply chain will grant our products with low-cost and system-to-system reproducibility.

Our team first formed in 2000 when we developed the small business DeltNu into the leading Raman spectroscopy company with affordable small benchtop and microscope instruments for research and teaching.  DeltaNu was the first to answer the call for handheld instruments after the September 11 attacks.  In 2009 we started Snowy Range Instruments (eventually Metrohm Raman) to capitalize on Black Silicon technology to create high sensitivity benchtops, microscopes, and the smallest handheld Raman instrument, CBEx.  CBeX (Chemical, Biological, Explosive) is a shirt pocket sized Raman system for material identification.

In 2023 the same team reorganized to tackle the problem of wearable technology to follow, for example, metabolic changes before, during, and after eating.  Our ultrahigh information content of simultaneous NIR, Raman, and fluorescence spectroscopies (NIRRF) is ideal for creating machine learning models to predict temporal physiological changes in our bodies.
